Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Livestream Production Manager to lead pro-grade live production for our seller ecosystem. You’ll own studio builds, on-site productions at events, and scalable education across Seller Academy, YouTube, and help center while partnering with the Events and product teams.

You will be the in-house expert on OBS, cameras, encoders, audio, lighting, and networking, ensuring smooth, high‑quality streams and reliable setups for top sellers and creators.

Qualifications

• Expert-level live streaming skills – you know OBS (or similar technologies) and are fluent across the full chain: cameras, capture, audio, lighting, encoding, and networking.
• Strong operator instincts – you keep gear, shipping, schedules, and stakeholders moving without dropping a ball.
• Willingness to travel often – typically 1–3 trips a month, including multi‑day conventions, some weekends, and occasional international trips.

Responsibilities

• Run and scale the white-glove studio build-out program for top sellers: curate gear kits, manage warehouse and shipping, and lead 1:1 setup sessions virtually or on-site.
• Design and run live production for conventions and major streams (e.g. MrBeast, StreamerU), coordinating cables, cameras, encoders, displays, and AV with Events.
• Evolve production education across Seller Academy, Help Center, YouTube, and in-app to level up seller setups.
• Be the in-house subject matter expert for the EPD teams and evangelize to field teams to multiply knowledge.
• Define success and track how production enablement affects seller performance – sales velocity, buyers per hour, watch time – and guide investments.
• Build the operating model and a bench of freelance/contract production talent for demand spikes.

Role

The Whatnot Seller Marketing team is responsible for growing our seller base – promoting the seller story, bringing more sellers to the platform and helping all seller build bigger businesses. This role will establish Whatnot as the leader in live stream production: raising the quality of our top sellers’ streams and powering head-turning productions at in-person events and brand activations. It’s a rare blend of production expert, program-builder, and seller-facing consultant; you’ll be the go-to authority on OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) and pro streaming setups for our sellers, our field teams, and the engineers building our video tools. The program is new and already moving the numbers – you’ll take it from scrappy to scaled.

Success means more sellers streaming on pro-grade OBS setups and selling faster because of it, plus seamless, industry-leading productions everywhere Whatnot shows up in person.

• Design and run live production for our presence at conventions and for major promotional streams (e.g. MrBeast, StreamerU), from cables, cameras and encoders to on-site displays and AV, working closely with our Events team
• Evolve our scaled production education across Seller Academy, Help Center, YouTube, and in-app, so every seller can level up their setup
• Be an in-house subject matter expert: for the EPD teams building seller production tools, and evangelizing to the field team to multiply in-house knowledge
• Define success and track how production enablement affects seller performance – sales velocity, buyers per hour, watch time – and use it to decide where to invest next
• Build the operating model behind it all, including a bench of freelance or contract production talent you can call on when demand spikes

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in‑person time for planning, problem‑solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, or New York, NY hub.

As our Livestream Production Manager, you should have 4+ years of professional experience and deep, hands‑on live production chops – whether they come from your day job or a serious side pursuit.

Specifically

• Expert-level live streaming skills – you know OBS (or similar technologies) and are fluent across the full chain: cameras, capture, audio, lighting, encoding, and networking.
• A real love for the craft. You tinker, you follow new gear, and you’re interested in the nuances when someone calls because the tech breaks
• Calm under pressure. You’ve run live shows where failure isn’t an option, and you know how to prep, build in redundancy, and troubleshoot in real time
• A knack for making technical things feel simple. You can coach a nervous first‑timmer through a setup over Zoom and represent Whatnot with polish in front of our biggest sellers and high‑profile creators
• Strong operator instincts – you keep gear, shipping, schedules, and stakeholders moving without dropping a ball, and you measure what you ship
• Teacher and evangelist energy. You love spreading know‑how – a hands‑on workshop for our sales team, a how‑to video for sellers, sharp field notes for engineers – and you’re happy to chat up prospective sellers at a booth (our sales team handles the close)
• Willingness to travel often – typically 1–3 trips a month, including multi‑day conventions, some weekends, and occasional international trips

Compensation Range: $126K - $165K
