Job summary

The University of California, Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital seeks a Livestock Medicine Service Technician to provide expert technical support for cattle, sheep, goats, and swine in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will assist clinicians, monitor anesthesia, and maintain accurate medical records while ensuring safety and infection control.

Applicants should have livestock handling experience and, ideally, a CA RVT license.

Qualifications

• Must obtain VACSP within 3 months of hire.
• Experience handling, restraining & working with livestock.
• Experience monitoring patient vital signs, observing & recording patient behavior & bodily functions.
• Experience with medications and fluids used in livestock.
• Ability to identify abnormal signs; basic livestock husbandry, anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• 70% - Patient Care and Technical Support for Livestock Medicine and Surgery
• 20% - Infection and Sanitation Control
• 10% - Patient Care and Technical Support for Other Large Animal Services
