Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a 1st Shift Livestock Handler at the Madison Plant to drive, sort, weigh and pen hogs, while keeping precise inventories and prioritizing animal welfare. The role includes maintaining facilities and performing light maintenance when not handling livestock.

You will move hogs safely, follow humane guidelines, and participate in safety programs. Strong communication and physical stamina are required for this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of prior experience handling and working with livestock in loading/unloading operations preferred.
  • Experience with skid loaders operation preferred.
  • Experience in livestock handling within the meat industry and knowledge of humane animal handling procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive, sort, weigh, tattoo, mark and pen livestock.
  • Maintain inventories and headcounts.
  • Perform light building maintenance and showcase duties when not working with livestock.
  • Move hogs safely and effectively with minimal stress following humane handling guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
