Job summary

News24 (formerly Sky News Australia) in Dallas is seeking a Studio Manager to run studio and technical operations for a US production hub. You will set up and run the studio(s), support hosts and guests, manage the floor during live broadcasts and recordings, keep equipment working, and be the first point of call for fixes on the ground.

You will work largely on your own with broad broadcast and technical skills, coordinating with Sydney teams across time differences.

Qualifications

Broad broadcast experience across studio, camera, audio, lighting and floor management.
Comfortable being the on-site operator in a distributed production setup.
Ability to troubleshoot signal paths and fix faults under time pressure.

Responsibilities

Studio operations: Set up, operate and troubleshoot studio and equipment (cameras, lighting, audio, prompter).
Floor management: Run the floor during recordings and live broadcasts and coordinate with remote teams.
Technical operation: Manage local signal chain, feeds to Sydney, backups, and returns for vision and prompter.
First-line engineering: Diagnose and fix faults with equipment and escalate as needed.
Host broadcaster relationship: Be the day-to-day contact with co-location partners and teams.
Equipment readiness: Keep studio and gear working, manage spares and faults.
Build and commissioning: Support move from temporary to permanent facility, assist installation and testing.
Standards: Write and follow local procedures for consistent operations.
Growth: Support special coverage and live events as operations grow.
