Job summary

News24 in Dallas is seeking an on-site Studio Manager to run and troubleshoot studio and technical operations for a US production hub. You will set up, operate and support live broadcasts and recordings, coordinating with Sydney-based teams across a large time difference.

The role requires broad, hands-on broadcast experience, capability to work independently, and strong problem-solving under pressure. This is a 2-year contract, with extension potential, based in Dallas, TX.

Qualifications

Broad, hands‑on broadcast experience across studio, camera, audio, lighting and floor management.
Comfortable being the only operator in the room.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
Understand and troubleshoot signal paths and fix basic problems.
Experience with remote or distributed production and on-site leadership.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate and troubleshoot studio and technical equipment (cameras, lighting, audio, prompter).
Run the floor during live broadcasts and coordinate with the Sydney control room and on-site teams.
Manage local signal chain, feeds to Sydney, backups and return feeds for vision and prompter.
Diagnose faults and escalate to engineering when needed under time pressure.
Serve as day-to-day on-site contact with co-location partner's teams.
Maintain studio equipment, manage spares and faults, and pre-empt issues.
Support move from temporary to permanent facilities, including installation/testing.
Write and follow local operating procedures for consistent operations.
Support special coverage and live events as the operation grows.
