Salary: $19.25-$19.50

Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Tasks include weeding, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler repair during the growing season. Responsibilities also include snow removal on sidewalks during winter. This is a 17-20 hour per week job in lieu of paying rent/water/sewer and garbage.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Spring/Summer Season

Grounds:

  1. Physically walk the properties regularly and remove litter, debris, cigarette butts, and pet droppings.
  2. Care for lawns by weeding, trimming, and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
  3. Report issues with irrigation systems to management.
  4. Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and planters free of debris, overgrowth, and weeds.
  5. Manage dumpster areas by transferring trash into dumpsters and sweeping the area.
  6. Assist in maintaining a safe environment by noting obstructions, replacing lights, and reporting suspicious activities or unusual smells or sounds.

Fall/Winter Season

  1. Walk the properties regularly and remove litter, debris, cigarette butts, and pet droppings.
  2. Assist with fall cleanup by keeping walking areas clear of leaves and debris.

Snow removal includes clearing walks, driveways, parking lots, and spreading salt/sand or deicer. Ensure safe pathways for walking and driving.

On-call Duties:

  1. Attend to lockouts and minor emergencies outside of regular hours.
  2. Follow the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
  3. Work as part of a team to meet productivity measures.
  4. Ensure confidentiality and security of client information per HIPAA regulations.
  5. Follow procedures for reporting suspected abuse or neglect.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory, COA, and Catholic Charities policies.
  7. Support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Requirements: Must live on-site; apartment provided.

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED; ability to use hand tools; experience in janitorial duties.

Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver's License; ability to pass background check.

Physical Abilities: Ability to stand, climb, walk, hear, talk; lift up to 50 pounds; perform physical tasks as described.

Mental & Other Skills: Adaptability, analytical skills, dependability, interpersonal skills, good judgment, basic reading and writing skills, mathematical skills, motor coordination, problem-solving skills, quality focus, reasoning ability. No supervisory responsibilities.

Workplace Environmental Conditions

Exposure to noise, heat, cold, dust, fumes, vapors, mists, and potential trauma exposure while providing services to vulnerable populations.
