Job summary

The YMCA Camp KernOregonia in Ohio seeks a Resident Camp Counselor for ages 5-9. This seasonal role (May–August) offers room and board on site and requires working weekends. You will help deliver weekly plans and create a safe, nurturing camp environment while supporting every child’s growth.

You will guide activities, supervise campers, and maintain records, ensuring safety and positive experiences under YMCA values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be over the age of 18.
• One or more years of related childcare experience required.
• Ability to engage children in activities that boost self-esteem.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans for children.
• Lead large group activities, games, and campfire events.
• Ensure safety by enforcing aquatic rules and regulations.
• Maintain accurate attendance, transitions, and incident records.
• Communicate with parents through written and verbal reports.
• Collaborate with Camp Kern staff and support all ACA rules.
