Job summary

Nexstar Media Group in the United States is seeking a Newscast Director to coordinate all technical operators during live and recorded broadcasts, ensuring smooth execution of fast-paced newscasts across multiple studios.

The role requires directing live shows with Sony ELC, Ross XPression, Bitcentral playout and Calrec Brio, supervising on-air talent and technicians, and collaborating with News and Creative Services to perfect the broadcast.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience Directing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• Must be able to handle fast-paced live broadcasts and remain calm during breaking news.
• Must have strong communication skills, oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Direct a live fast paced local newscast using Sony ELC production automation, Ross XPression, Bitcentral playout, and Calrec Brio
• Supervise on-air talent, technicians, and floor directors
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of studio/remote broadcasting technology including automated servers, graphics systems, and editing. ENPS and Sony ELC experience preferred
• Collaborate with newscast producers to create & execute the content, tone, structure and pace of the newscast
• Contribute creativity and ideas that enhance the final product
• Must be able to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Coordinates with the News and Creative Services Departments to achieve the graphic elements of the newscast

Requirements:

• Early Mornings, Evenings, weekends, and holidays will be a part of the schedule.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• Must be able to handle face paced live broadcasts and remain calm during breaking news.
• Please be prepared to furnish current references and shows (with director's track).
• Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news.
• Must have strong communication skills, oral and written.
