Job summary

CBS News Streaming Network is seeking a Segment Producer to join its team at the New York City Broadcast Center. This role researches, develops and produces high-quality segments in a fast-paced, live environment.

The position requires 5+ years of newsroom experience, strong journalism and exemplary writing skills, and the ability to deliver clear copy under deadline. Schedule is Mon–Fri in the office with potential on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of newsroom experience.
• Strong journalism background with exemplary news judgment.
• Excellent writing skills including grammar, AP style and broadcast writing.
• Proven ability to write clear, accurate copy under deadline pressure.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive CBS News writing test.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and produce segments with editorial judgment, sound, graphics and banners.
• Write anchor questions and shape segment content with Executive/Line Producers.
• Provide detailed briefings to anchors and correspondents.
• Contribute in the control room during live broadcasts for smooth execution.
• Pitch and refine timely, compelling story ideas under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrate editorial judgment to identify high-potential stories.
• Participate in daily editorial meetings and contribute to show content development.
• Ensure compliance with standards, rights, and clearances with senior staff.
• Maintain composure in high-pressure, breaking news environments.
• Follow control room protocols and stay aware of production timing.
