NBCUniversal’s Top Story with Tom Llamas team is seeking a creative journalist to join a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom in New York. The role focuses on editing video, scripting compelling copy, collaborating with producers, and shaping day-of segments under tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in broadcast or streaming news, strong editing skills (Avid/ Premiere), a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and the flexibility to work 12p–8p, Monday–Friday in New York, NY,

Qualifications

2+ years in broadcast or streaming news, preferably on live daily shows or near a control room.
Ability to edit video and improve skills further.
Desire to develop journalistic writing and research skills.
Strong understanding of current events and timely reporting.
Detail-oriented with accurate work and fast turnaround.
Comfortable working in a collaborative newsroom environment.

Responsibilities

Editing video, including day-of-air packages and graphics for a live show on deadlines.
Collaborating with producers and correspondents to research, write and produce strong editorial copy with speed and accuracy.
Working closely with EP, producers, correspondents, and anchors.
Pitching relevant, timely ideas for day-of and future segments.
Quality check video content.
Keep senior producers and EP updated on daily news developments.
Hybrid work arrangement: in-office at least 4 days per week.
