Job summary

RISD Rhode Island School of Design is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for Housing Operations. This live-in, 12-month role oversees occupancy, room changes, HMS and Workday systems, move-in/move-out, and Pre-College housing for about 1,460 students.

You will work closely with the Associate Director for Housing Operations and the Director of Residence Life to support a safe, inclusive residential experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; minimum 2 years of full-time higher education experience, preferably in housing operations.
• Proficiency with StarRez, Workday, HMS and database systems; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage housing assignments, occupancy, and room selection processes; oversee HMS data and room changes.
• Lead move-in/move-out operations and Pre-College housing coordination; ensure accurate billing and occupancy records.
• Train and supervise housing operations staff and student staff; coordinate with campus partners and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance, safety, and access management; handle on-call emergencies and incident documentation.
