Job summary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) in Hershey, PA, is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples reside in on-campus homes, provide care and supervision for 8–13 students, and support their academic, emotional, and social development.

Initially, nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with progression to a Placed Houseparent living with the same group. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, retirement savings, relocation assistance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Couples legally married for at least two years.
• Both spouses age 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty.
• Pet limitations: fish and one dog of approved breeds only.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning engaging developmental/recreational activities.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initially supporting various homes; nine days on duty followed by three days off.
• Transitioning to Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students.
