Job summary

POLITICO Live seeks an Editorial Producer to shape the editorial programming for summits, briefings, and other events across North America. The role requires turning complex policy topics into engaging on-stage conversations with strong reporting, interviewing, and writing.

You will identify timely issues, recruit newsmakers, develop concise questions, and collaborate with journalists, producers, and bookers to deliver programs that inform and energize POLITICO audiences.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as a reporter, editor, producer or journalist.
• Experience with research and reporting for live events or editorial platforms.
• Exceptional editorial judgment to identify stories that matter most to an audience.
• Strong understanding of politics and policy with interest in U.S. politics and global affairs.
• Strong writing skills to make news engaging across formats.
• Ability to turn complex topics into focused, editorial conversations.
• Strong interviewing skills to elicit substantive answers.
• Strong research skills to learn unfamiliar subjects quickly.
• Collaborative, self-starter attitude and ability to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Shape the editorial vision for POLITICO Live events and identify important issues for on-stage exploration.
• Develop programming ideas from breaking news, reporting, and broader policy debates.
• Identify and research newsmakers, policymakers, industry leaders and experts for informed perspectives.
• Conduct research to ensure programming is accurate, balanced and well-informed.
• Develop interview concepts, questions and arcs to enable substantive discussions on stage.
• Monitor breaking news and adapt event focus as needed.
• Write compelling editorial and promotional copy for program descriptions and social content.
• Coordinate with production teams on timing, speaker availability and audience needs.
• Support live events from development through execution and post-event reflection.
• Contribute to digital, video and social storytelling to extend reach.
