Job summary

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville seeks a stagehand to support back‑of‑house operations for stage productions and events, handling audio, lighting, video, rigging, and related gear.

This role collaborates with TPAC staff, touring productions, and community partners, assisting with setup, maintenance, and safety. Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience and basic electrical skills, with availability for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience as a theatrical stagehand, event technician or production services.
• Theatrical knowledge (electric, audio, carpentry, rigging).
• Basic knowledge of electricity.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Eighteen (18) years or older with basic skills in reading and math.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a team-based culture focused on respect, communication, inclusivity, and collaboration.
• Utilize theatrical skills while working with a diverse group of back-of-house staff, including TPAC staff and contracted labor.
• Participate in load in and load out of all theatrical equipment.
• Assist with maintenance of theatrical systems and equipment.
• Work collaboratively and receive direction from staff and visiting department heads.
• Function as an electrician, spot op, or board operator on select events.
• Function as a stage manager, flyman, weight loader, or deck hand on select events.
• Function as a video operator or projectionist on select events.
• Communicate effectively with staff and external parties in a positive manner.
• Demonstrate proactive work ethic and willingness to learn and grow.
• Demonstrate helpful and cooperative conduct to co-workers.
• Willing to work safely and efficiently in a fast paced environment.
