Job summary

Sinclair is seeking a Master Control Operator in Des Moines, IA to join our 24/7 operations hub supporting live news, sports, and events across multiple channels.

You will manage the Master Control room, monitor feeds, adjust playlists in real time, and ensure timing and technical standards. The role requires 1+ year in broadcast environments, comfort with cloud-based playout tools, and flexibility for all shifts.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in Master Control or broadcast environments.
• Familiarity with live event production and news switching is a plus.
• Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple feeds.
• Understanding of automation systems, switchers, servers, and signal monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of audio, video, closed captioning, and loudness standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays.
• Experience with Amagi CLOUDPORT or similar cloud-based playout systems is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Operate the multi-channel Master Control room, managing live events, playlists, graphics, and automation systems.
• Prepare, monitor, and adjust playlists in real time to ensure seamless broadcasts.
• Execute precision switching for live news and sporting events.
• Monitor on-air feeds to ensure alignment with schedules and technical standards.
• Ingest, record, and prepare content for broadcast with accuracy and timing.
• Route video sources properly and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
• Keep detailed logs on air discrepancies, timing, and run times.
• Communicate clearly with team members and management to support shift transitions.
• Stay sharp and adaptable in a mission-critical environment.
