This position provides effective legal representation and handles moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

Position Compensation Range: $109,000.00 - $185,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
  1. Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
  2. Manage files and issues of a more complex nature with higher dollar exposure and less oversight; communicate with clients regarding file status and progress.
  3. Analyze files as litigation progresses and assess risks; evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary.
  4. Draft pleadings, papers, and briefs to advance litigation at trial or appellate levels; conduct necessary research.
  5. Advocate client positions in all forums, including state and federal courts, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals, and regulatory hearings.
  6. Negotiate effectively to resolve issues.
  7. Stay current on relevant statutes and court decisions; analyze their impact on policy interpretation and enforceability.
  8. Potentially develop areas of specialty practice such as property, workers' compensation, environmental law, or commercial coverage.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
  • Experience preparing civil pleadings, motions, discovery, and deposing witnesses.
  • Litigation experience.
  • Solid understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility in their jurisdiction.
  • Knowledge of tort, contract, and insurance law.
  • Admitted to the state bar in their practicing state or able to obtain admission within a specified timeframe.
  • Juris Doctor degree.
Additional Specialized Knowledge & Skills
  • Previous in-house trial experience is strongly preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 50% travel expected.
Physical Requirements
  • Primarily sitting and standing.
