Qualifications

Job description

This position provides effective legal representation and handles moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

Position Compensation Range:

$109,000.00 - $185,000.00

Pay Rate Type:

Salary

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
  1. Handle litigation involving the corporation and/or its insured within established guidelines and professional responsibility standards.
  2. Manage complex files with higher dollar exposure, requiring less oversight, and communicate progress to clients.
  3. Analyze cases as litigation progresses, assess risks, and seek settlement when appropriate.
  4. Draft pleadings, papers, and briefs; conduct research to support litigation activities.
  5. Advocate client positions in various forums, including court, arbitration, and administrative hearings.
  6. Negotiate effectively to resolve issues.
  7. Stay current on relevant statutes and court decisions, analyzing their impact on policy interpretation and enforcement.
  8. Develop areas of specialty practice as needed.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Experience providing customer-driven legal solutions and support.
  • Experience preparing civil pleadings, motions, discovery, and deposing witnesses.
  • Litigation experience and solid knowledge of professional responsibility rules.
  • Understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.
  • Bar admission in the practicing state or within one year if passing a bar exam; or as soon as practicable, within 60 days, if diploma privilege or in-house counsel eligibility.
  • Juris Doctor degree required.
Additional Skills
  • Previous in-house trial experience preferred.
Travel & Physical Requirements
  • Up to 50% travel.
  • Primarily sitting/standing work.
