Job summary

Patagon Search seeks a Litigation Team Lead to helm a civil docket, from intake through resolution, for a confidential plaintiff-side client in Baltimore. This hands-on leadership role manages an associate, paralegal, and legal assistant with investigator support, focusing on litigating cases well rather than billables.

The ideal candidate has at least 7 years in civil litigation with strong writing and supervisory skills, is comfortable working fully in-office in Baltimore, and brings

Qualifications

• J.D. and Maryland bar admission or eligibility for prompt admission.
• 7+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Substantial personal injury experience welcome (plaintiff or defense).
• Extensive deposition experience; trial experience is a plus.
• Strong writing and case-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil cases from pleadings through discovery, motion practice, mediation and trial.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, institutional representatives and experts.
• Lead, supervise and mentor an associate and support staff.
• Draft and argue dispositive and discovery motions.
• Work with experts and develop case strategy alongside firm leadership.

Job description

Patagon Search is recruiting a Litigation Team Lead for a confidential client, a nationally recognized plaintiff-side firm. The firm represents survivors of sexual abuse in civil litigation against institutional defendants and is a national leader in this practice area.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll lead your own litigation team, made up of an associate, a paralegal and a legal assistant, with shared investigator support. You'll run a docket of meaningful, high-impact cases from intake through resolution.

There are no billable hour or business development requirements. The focus is on litigating cases well. Prior sexual abuse litigation experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil cases from pleadings through discovery, motion practice, mediation and trial
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, institutional representatives and experts
• Lead, supervise and mentor an associate and support staff
• Draft and argue dispositive and discovery motions

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Maryland bar (or eligibility for prompt admission)
• 7+ years of strong civil litigation experience
• Substantial personal injury experience, plaintiff or defense side (insurance defense, premises, auto, construction, med-mal and similar backgrounds are all welcome)
• Extensive deposition experience; trial experience is a plus
• Strong writing, case-management and supervisory skills
• Comfortable working fully in-office in Baltimore City

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary up to approximately $265,000, depending on experience
• Annual bonuses that have historically ranged from $20,000 to $50,000+
• 100% of employee healthcare premiums covered
