Job summary

Milbank LLP in New York seeks a Talent Development Manager for the Litigation & Arbitration Group, reporting to the Director of Attorney Talent Development. This hybrid role (3-4 days in the office) supports professional development across domestic offices.

The position requires a JD and 4–8 years of law firm experience. You will collaborate with staffing, training, and partners to advance associates' careers and drive Advocacy@Milbank programs.

Qualifications

• Four to eight years of law firm experience; litigation experience at a peer firm strongly preferred.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, presentation, communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
• Must have high responsiveness to time sensitive issues.
• The position requires flexibility with respect to working hours.
• In-person attendance on a hybrid schedule (3-4 days in the office) is expected.
• JD is required.

Responsibilities

• Get to know the practice group, attorneys and administrative teams, case flow and clients.
• Understand associates’ day-to-day experiences, reviews, matters, workloads and development goals.
• Coordinate assignment of associates to matters with Staffing Partner; suggest assignments based on workload and development needs.
• Coordinate with partners to ensure development messages during associate performance evaluations and consistency in delivery.
• Counsel associates on career goals.
• Support Advocacy@Milbank training program with Training Partner and Professional Development.
• Develop and facilitate ad hoc events to improve cohesion and communication.
• Manage onboarding of lateral and first-year associates and exit procedures; conduct exit interviews.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
