Job summary

First Chicago Insurance Company in Texas is seeking an experienced Litigation Specialist to handle litigated and complex auto claims. You will assess coverage, draft reservations of rights, and conduct prompt investigations with statements, police reports, medical records, and appraisals.

This role requires knowledge of legal/medical terminology, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to pass state examinations to become a licensed adjuster.

Qualifications

• College degree or 5 years of applicable claims adjusting experience.
• Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to pass state written exams to become a licensed adjuster.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigated and complex auto liability claims per procedures.
• Determine coverage and draft reservations of rights letters.
• Investigate by securing statements and obtaining documents (police reports, medical, photos).
• Litigation management with defense counsel and experts.
• Maintain diaries and document all activity per regs.
• Research case law, statutes, and forms to adjust claims.
• Present claim evaluations to secure settlement authority.
• Maintain indemnity and expense reserves.
• Adhere to Department of Insurance rules for the state.
• Additional duties as assigned.
