Job summary

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Litigation Specialist to handle litigated and complex auto liability claims. You will determine coverage, draft rights letters, and secure statements and documents to support settlements.

Responsibilities include coordinating with defense counsel, managing diaries, and ensuring regulatory compliance. A college degree or equivalent claims experience, plus knowledge of legal and medical terminology, is required.

Qualifications

• College degree and/or 5 years of applicable claims adjusting experience.
• Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass written examinations to become a licensed claim adjuster.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation claims following established office procedures.
• Determine coverage and draft reservations of rights letters.
• Secure statements and gather documents (police reports, medical bills, photos, appraisals).
• Manage litigation by coordinating with defense counsel and experts.
• Maintain diary on open files and document activity per regulations and policies.
• Conduct onsite reviews of defense counsel as needed and ensure compliance with state rules.
