Job summary

Kaufman & Canoles in Virginia Beach is seeking a full-time Litigation Paralegal to support busy civil litigation and real estate matters. You will draft pleadings, manage case files, assist with discovery, and coordinate with clients and court personnel.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in civil litigation or real estate, strong MS Office and document management skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects and maintain accurate billable hours.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in civil litigation or real estate is preferred.
• Associate degree or paralegal certificate is preferred.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as Adobe and Nuance is preferred.
• Experience with federal court filings, PACER/ECF, and state court filings is preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Virginia Rules of Civil Procedure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and preparing pleadings and other legal documents.
• Analyzing real estate documents and related records.
• Organizing and managing case files and electronic records.
• Creating trial notebooks and deposition summaries.
• Managing discovery documents and privilege reviews.
• Handling process service and summons/writs issuance.
• Maintaining accurate daily billable hour records.
• Maintaining client and court communications and updating attorneys.
