Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Hartford, CT seeks a detail-oriented paralegal or legal secretary to support litigation teams through all phases of matters. You will manage case files, calendars, discovery, subpoenas, and document review, coordinating with clients, courts, and outside counsel to keep matters on track.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 1–3 years' litigation experience, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from inception to resolution
  • Manage and organize case files, databases, and electronic document management systems
  • Maintain and monitor litigation calendars, including court dates and discovery deadlines
  • Ensure case materials are accurate, organized, and accessible to support strategy
  • Communicate with clients, courts, vendors, and outside counsel regarding status
  • Assist with discovery, including drafting requests and responses
  • Organize document productions and assist with document review
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings
  • Manage electronic documents and case databases using applicable technology
  • Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations and case-related materials
  • Prepare, serve, and track subpoenas
  • Follow up with providers to obtain records
  • Monitor subpoena compliance and document production
  • Track service, responses, and deadlines
  • Support motion practice and trial preparation
  • Prepare exhibits and trial materials
  • Coordinate court filings and hearings
  • Attend hearings and trials when needed
  • Coordinate filings, scheduling, and discovery
  • Assist with materials for case strategy and proceedings

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Litigation Support & Case Management:

  • Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from case inception through resolution.

  • Manage and organize case files, databases, and electronic document management systems.

  • Maintain and monitor litigation calendars, including court dates, discovery deadlines, and internal case milestones.

  • Ensure case materials are accurate, organized, and readily accessible to support litigation strategy.

  • Communicate with clients, courts, vendors, and outside counsel regarding case status and procedural matters.

Discovery & Document Management:

  • Assist with all phases of discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses.

  • Organize document productions and assist with document review.

  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.

  • Manage electronic documents and case databases using applicable legal technology and document management systems.

  • Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations and other case-related materials.

Subpoenas & Records Coordination:

  • Prepare, serve, and track subpoenas throughout the litigation process.

  • Follow up with providers and other parties to obtain records needed to support litigation matters.

  • Monitor subpoena compliance and coordinate document production.

  • Track service, responses, and outstanding records to ensure applicable deadlines are met.

Motion Practice & Trial Preparation:

  • Support motion practice and trial preparation.

  • Prepare exhibits, witness materials, trial binders, and other materials required for hearings and trials.

  • Coordinate court filings and assist attorneys with preparation for legal proceedings.

  • Attend hearings and trials with attorneys on an occasional basis.

Administrative & Attorney Support:

  • Coordinate filings, discovery, scheduling, and other litigation-related activities.

  • Assist attorneys with organizing and preparing materials for case strategy and proceedings.

  • Work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • Provide reliable, professional, and collaborative support to the litigation team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 1-3 years of litigation experience as a paralegal or legal secretary.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF software.

  • Familiarity with document management systems such as iManage is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
