Smith Freed Eberhard in Portland seeks an experienced paralegal to support Personal and Commercial lines, focusing on catastrophic injuries, premises liability, automobile liability, and dram shop/liquor liability. You will manage cases, assist with discovery and draft pleadings, while ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines.

Ideal candidates will have strong writing and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and familiarity with medical chronologies and insurance

Qualifications

• Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments and manage deadlines.
• Familiarity with Oregon law; Washington experience is a plus.
• Experience drafting pleadings and handling discovery.
• Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with medical chronologies and insurance industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation files and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Prepare notebooks, index and compare documents, and create medical chronologies and billing summaries.
• Handle all aspects of discovery: serve requests, summarize responses, obtain necessary documents.
• Prepare Subpoenas Duces Tecum and assist with deposition, arbitration, and trial prep.
• Identify and follow client-specific billing guidelines to ensure compliant work.
