Job summary

Vernis & Bowling’s downtown St. Petersburg office is seeking experienced paralegals to join their civil litigation defense team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of litigation defense experience and will be responsible for summarizing records, researching legal sources, drafting documents, and assisting in trial preparations.

This role involves scheduling important meetings and serving as a liaison among various parties within the legal process, ensuring smooth communication and organization to support ongoing cases.

Job Duties

• Summarizes records and court files.
• Schedules couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses & other special functions.
• Researches sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and public records.
• Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts.
• Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents, and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.
• Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
• Maintains attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions.
