Job summary

Vedder Price P.C. is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for its New York office. The role supports attorneys from case inception to resolution, including managing eDiscovery with the team and preparing pleadings and related documents.

The candidate will conduct client and witness interviews, perform background research, review documents, and assist with trial materials while coordinating with vendors. A hybrid schedule requires three days in the office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • ABA-approved paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of work experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm or a specialized litigation practice.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, attention to detail, and multi-tasking to meet competing demands.
  • Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using litigation support software for managing files and transcripts preferred (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw, Opus2 Magnum, and Adobe).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be available to work overtime and travel, as needed.
  • Hybrid role requiring at least three days in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in initial client and witness interviews, investigations, and conference calls.
  • Coordinate background searches, public records research, arbitrator searches, and bio summaries.
  • Analyze documentary evidence and prepare chronologies and timelines.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and agencies such as court reporters and eDiscovery vendors.
  • Assist with proofreading, cite checking, case law retrieval, and citation verification; research local rules and procedures.
  • Manage and organize large volumes of documents in eDiscovery tools and coordinate with eDiscovery staff.
  • Assist with data analytics and preparation of pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare deposition testimony categorization using Opus2 Magnum or similar tools.
  • Assist with filing/e-filing procedures and coordinate with Docketing Department.
  • Organize trial materials, assist in courtroom with hearings, trials, and arbitrations, and use digital presentation tools.
  • Provide direction to project assistants and target 1500 billable hours.

Job description

Vedder's New York office is seeking a Litigation Paralegal. The paralegal will assist attorneys with various substantive and administrative responsibilities from case inception to resolution, as well as coordinate and oversee all case-related eDiscovery with the assistance of the eDiscovery team.

As a Litigation Paralegal, your duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Participate in initial client and witness interviews, investigations, fact analysis and conference calls as needed.
  • Coordinate/run background searches, public records research, arbitrator searches and bio summaries.
  • Analyze documentary evidence, including preparation of chronologies, timelines, etc.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and agencies such as court reporters, court personnel, eDiscovery vendors, etc.
  • Assist with proofreading, cite and fact checking, case law retrieval, shepardizing, and citation verification. Research local rules and procedures.
  • eDiscovery: Manage and organize large volume of documents, especially client document collections. Perform complex searches, review and manage large discovery matters within Relativity and other web-accessible review platforms. Coordinate and collaborate with eDiscovery staff to ensure legal team needs are defined and met.
  • Assist with compiling data and running data analytics.
  • Prepare templates and initial drafts of pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and related legal documents.
  • Prepare deposition testimony categorization using Opus2 Magnum or another deposition review tool.
  • Knowledge of filing/e-filing procedures and coordinate with the Docketing Department regarding filing.
  • Supply factual support for statement of facts (reviewing declarations, depositions and documents) and draft initial statements.
  • Trial Support: Organize and prepare trial materials, specifically pleadings, witness prep materials, trial notebooks, exhibits, deposition designations and demonstratives. Attend and assist attorneys in the courtroom at hearing, trial and arbitrations. Use digital presentation tools in the courtroom.
  • Provide direction and guidance to project assistants assigned to case team.
  • 1500 billable hours target.

Compensation Range:

$75,000/yr - $95,000/yr
