Job summary

Cole Pedroza LLP, a mid-sized appellate/litigation law firm in Los Angeles, seeks a highly motivated litigation paralegal to support attorneys with document preparation, discovery and trial readiness.

This role requires strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent communication and organizational abilities, and a track record of meeting billable targets (1800 hours per year).

• Edits legal documents for spelling, grammar and citations.
• Summarizes trial and deposition transcripts.
• Investigates factual information to respond to litigation discovery requests.
• Makes record requests, follow-up, and summarizing medical records.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with attorneys and support staff in preparing legal documents and document productions
• Prepares subpoenas
• Reviews/summaries medical records
• Researches claim documents and prepares/updates spreadsheets
• Edits legal documents for accurate spelling, grammar, legal and record citations, including but not limited to discovery, motions, summary judgement motions, appellate briefs, affidavits, memoranda, and letters
• Summarizes trial and deposition transcripts
• Investigates factual information to respond to litigation discovery requests or other information inquiries.
• Makes record requests, follow-up, and summarizing medical records
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management
• 1800 billable year requirement.
• Must have experience in meeting a billable requirement
• 4 year degree in relevant course work a plus
• High Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe
• Excellent communication and organization abilities
• Excellent grammatical and spelling skills
• Strong research and report generating skills
• Experience in using legal database software
