We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Litigation Paralegal to join our team. This role will support attorneys in managing complex cases and assist with all aspects of litigation preparation, from discovery through trial. Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain document files, including court papers, corporate documents, case records, and discovery materials.
- Review and analyze matters to prepare evaluations and status reports for internal use and clients.
- Draft shells for complaints, answers, notices, affidavits, motions, petitions, and detailed letters and memorandums.
- Manage large case files and e-discovery processes.
- Proofread and revise legal documents for accuracy, grammar, and typographical errors.
- Review and outline depositions, and summarize documents for reference.
- Prepare materials for mailings and assist with client communications.
- Conduct legal research using resources like Westlaw, Lexis, PACER, and other databases.
- Compile and analyze data from legal materials such as digests, regulations, and case law.
- Contact and interview parties, witnesses, and experts; obtain written statements.
- Assist in trial preparation, including preparing pretrial orders, jury instructions, motions, subpoenas, and witness lists.
- Support the trial process, including scheduling witnesses and tracking exhibits.
- Maintain pleadings, trial notebooks, expert witness materials, and document indices.
- Utilize computer databases for document organization, retention, and research.
- Keep accurate daily time records.
- Foster positive working relationships with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members.
- Follow ethical guidelines and rules of professional conduct.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of federal and California state court filing procedures, e-discovery, and database searches (Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, PACER, etc.).
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines under time constraints.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff.
- Availability to work more than 40 hours per week when needed, including potential travel.
- Must be able to travel to various locations for legal matters as required.
Education & Experience:
- A four-year college degree or paralegal certificate is required.
- 5-10+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
