Job summary

LHH is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a busy civil defense practice in Los Angeles. You will manage case files, coordinate discovery, support trial preparation, and assist attorneys throughout all phases of litigation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in civil litigation, experience with medical chronologies and expert witnesses, and knowledge of state and federal procedures. Strong research, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of civil litigation paralegal experience.
  • Experience preparing medical chronologies and working with expert witnesses.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating with legal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Draft discovery requests and assist with responses, document productions, and privilege logs.
  • Prepare subpoenas for records, depositions, and production.
  • Coordinate and prepare attorneys for depositions and hearings.
  • Conduct factual investigations and online research.
  • Retain and coordinate expert witnesses and consultants.
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely filings and responses.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and case summaries.
  • Organize and manage electronic and physical evidence.

Job description

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 annually

LHH has partnered with a well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a busy civil defense practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters from case inception through resolution while collaborating closely with attorneys, experts, and clients.

Position Overview

The Litigation Paralegal will play a key role in managing case files, coordinating discovery, supporting trial preparation, and assisting attorneys throughout all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced handling transportation, personal injury, property damage, or other complex civil litigation matters.

Responsibilities
  • Manage litigation files from initial intake through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial
  • Draft and prepare discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
  • Assist with discovery responses, document productions, and privilege logs
  • Prepare subpoenas for records, depositions, and document production
  • Coordinate and prepare attorneys for depositions
  • Conduct factual investigations and online research
  • Retain and coordinate expert witnesses and consultants
  • Track litigation deadlines and ensure timely filings and responses
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, chronologies, correspondence, and case summaries
  • Prepare mediation and trial materials, including exhibits, witness files, and trial notebooks
  • Organize and manage electronic and physical evidence
  • Assist with witness coordination and trial logistics
  • Support attorneys during hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation paralegal experience
  • Experience preparing medical chronologies and working with expert witnesses
  • Knowledge of state and federal court procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with legal teams
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
  • Experience supporting transportation, catastrophic injury, insurance defense, or property damage litigation
  • Trial preparation and courtroom support experience
  • Familiarity with document review, e-discovery, and litigation support technologies
