Job summary

LHH seeks a dedicated Legal Assistant to support a busy litigation team focused on medical malpractice and insurance defense in Chicago. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of law‑firm experience, works well independently, and collaborates with attorneys and staff.

You will prepare documents from draft to final, reformat pleadings, manage scheduling, coordinate filing and service of process, and maintain electronic case files with precision.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting attorneys in a law‑firm setting (med mal/insurance defense preferred).
• Exceptional organization, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure; team‑oriented with a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and medical terminology.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Zoom, Adobe, Dropbox; experience with Perfect Law and M365 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents and correspondence from draft through proofread final.
• Reformat pleadings; coordinate e‑filing in Federal, State, and Appellate courts.
• Manage complex scheduling and calendaring for attorneys, clients, experts, and local counsel.
• Coordinate preparation and filing of pleadings and briefs; handle service of process.
• Organize and maintain electronic case files and ensure document accuracy.
