Addison Group is hiring a Litigation Legal Assistant for our client, a well-established legal organization seeking an experienced professional to support attorneys handling business and commercial litigation matters. This position is ideal for a polished, highly organized legal professional with 5+ years of litigation support experience who is comfortable managing a demanding workload, handling confidential information, and working with attorneys in a deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of litigation procedures, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency with iManage and other legal technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys managing a substantial litigation caseload.
- Monitor important litigation deadlines, court dates, filings, and other time-sensitive matters.
- Prepare, revise, format, and proofread litigation-related documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, complaints, summonses, and correspondence.
- Assist with electronic filing and service of documents in state and federal courts.
- Create and maintain organized electronic case files, ensuring pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other matter-related documents are properly maintained.
- Manage attorney calendars by coordinating depositions, hearings, meetings, travel, conferences, and other litigation-related commitments.
- Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, meetings, depositions, and trial-related activities.
- Open and organize new matters while completing associated administrative requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, attorneys, and internal departments to facilitate the efficient handling of matters.
- Track attorney expenses, reimbursements, check requests, and related documentation.
- Assist with monthly client billing, including entering and reviewing attorney time and addressing billing-related matters.
- Enter attorney billable and non-billable time accurately and on a timely basis.
- Use legal document management and productivity systems to maintain accurate and accessible case information.
- Identify potential issues, anticipate attorney needs, and independently follow through on solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably supporting business or commercial litigation attorneys.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and electronic filing requirements for Texas state and federal courts.
- Experience with appellate matters is a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with iManage is required.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with litigation support tools and creating tables of authorities is preferred.
- Strong proofreading, grammar, spelling, and document-formatting skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet demanding deadlines.
- Highly professional and polished communication style, both written and verbal.
- Self-directed approach with the ability to anticipate needs, resolve issues, and work effectively without extensive supervision.
- Strong typing skills, with the ability to accurately type approximately 80+ words per minute.
- Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive legal information.
- Ability to work occasional overtime, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, when business needs require.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and meet the physical requirements associated with the position.
