TopDog Law is a fully remote national personal injury firm seeking a detail-oriented junior to mid-level attorney for its legal and compliance team as a litigation ethics compliance attorney. You will focus on ethics compliance for litigation, including client intake, conflicts of interest, and compliance across all phases of cases.

You will report to the General Counsel and work with attorneys and staff across the firm.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in a major US state.
• 5–10 years of litigation experience at a prominent law firm.
• 2+ years of experience in litigation-related compliance.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of balancing legal compliance with business interests across the firm.

Responsabilités

• Research, write, and investigate legal and ethical compliance issues with GC oversight.
• Draft firm SOPs for ethics compliance across litigation phases in many states.
• Draft and revise firm form agreements and documents (retainers, communications, settlements).
• Evaluate conflicts of interest and draft waivers.
• Implement and update internal compliance policies and protocols.
• Audit case handling and provide high-level oversight for a large portfolio.
• Track key case metrics and escalate issues to supervising attorneys.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented, business-minded junior or mid-level attorney to join the legal and compliance department of our rapidly growing national personal injury law firm, in a fully remote role. This unique role is for a litigation ethics compliance attorney, who will concentrate on ethics compliance for litigation, including new client intake, conflicts of interest, and compliance for all phases of cases. This attorney will report to the General Counsel of the firm and will work with attorneys and staff across the firm. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment.

What You Will Own

1. Litigation Ethics Compliance

• Work directly with the law firm’s general counsel to perform research, writing, and investigation into various legal and ethical compliance issues
• Drafting Firm SOPs for ethics compliance for all phases of litigation matters in many states across the U.S., including client intake, pre-litigation phases, litigation phases, and settlement and IOLTA account processes
• Draft and revise firm form agreements and documents, including retainer agreements, standard client communications, demands, termination of representation, settlement statements
• Evaluating conflicts of interest and drafting waivers for conflicts
• Assist in implementing and updating internal compliance policies and protocols

2. Auditing and High-Level Case Oversight

• Audit and high-level oversight of case handling of large portfolio of cases to assure compliance and performance
• Advising and auditing for litigation ethics compliance across the firm
• Track key case metrics and elevate issues as needed to supervising attorneys and management

What You Bring

Required:

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in state of residence, in a major US state.
• 5-10 years of litigation experience in a prominent law firm
• 2+ years of experience in compliance relating to litigation
• Must be highly organized with great attention to detail
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable juggling legal compliance and business interests, working with stakeholders across the firm
• Self-starter capable of working effectively in a remote work environment

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• Litigation experience in multiple states, with knowledge of different rules of ethics and rules of civil procedure, demonstrating a broad scope of knowledge
• Experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation
• Ethics compliance experience
• Familiarity with CRM systems and project management software
• Strong legal analysis skills and relationship management capabilities
• Business-oriented mindset
• Proactive approach to problem-solving
• Bar membership in Arizona is preferred but not required

What We Offer

• Base Salary: $180,000 - $220,000, commensurate with experience
• Eligible for performance-based bonus
