Job summary

Rees Broome, PC, a top Virginia law firm, seeks an Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of general collections or litigation experience to join its Community Association practice. You will represent HOAs and manage a high-volume collections caseload while growing professionally.

Must be actively licensed to practice law in Maryland; dual VA/MD licensure is a strong plus. The role offers mentorship, competitive compensation, and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland; dual VA/MD licensure is a plus.
  • 2–4 years’ experience practicing general collections or civil litigation.
  • Working knowledge of the FDCPA, district court procedures, and post-judgment enforcement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage paralegal support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Caseload management: independently manage 250–400 active collections cases from intake to closure.
  • Court appearances in district courts for collections and covenant enforcement hearings.
  • Advise community association clients and HOA boards; attend on-site meetings.
  • Draft and analyze governing documents, contracts, and financial records; prepare opinions for shareholder review.
  • Collaborate with and supervise paralegals and staff to ensure seamless case execution.
  • Manage hourly time entry and fixed-fee billing codes for collections work.
