Job summary

Confidential Employer in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced litigation associate to manage a sophisticated caseload from inception through resolution, focusing on professional liability, malpractice, and related business defense matters. You will handle discovery, depositions, motions, client communications, and trial preparation, with opportunities to participate in trials as second chair.

The role offers hybrid work from Downtown LA or Brentwood and mentorship from leading trial

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 4+ years of California litigation experience.
• Business litigation experience required.
• Professional liability, legal malpractice, accounting malpractice, or similar defense experience preferred.
• Strong experience with discovery, depositions, law and motion, and independent case handling.
• Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions preferred.
• State and federal court experience preferred.
• Trial preparation or trial experience preferred.
• Excellent writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Westlaw, and related legal technology.

Responsibilities

• Manage a sophisticated litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Handle professional liability, malpractice, business litigation, and related civil defense matters.
• Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and prepare status reports.
• Draft pleadings, motions, dispositive motions, discovery responses, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
• Propound and respond to written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Make court appearances in California state and federal courts.
• Prepare matters for trial, arbitration, mediation, and resolution.
• Participate in trials as second chair when appropriate.
• Work closely with partners and team members on complex, high-value litigation matters.
