Litigation Attorney — Medical Malpractice Defense

Medical Defense Law Group is seeking an attorney with approximately 5–10 years of civil litigation experience to join our growing practice. Medical malpractice defense experience is strongly preferred.

This opportunity is suited to an attorney who enjoys taking ownership of cases, tackling complex factual and legal issues, and contributing to a collaborative litigation team. Our practice represents physicians, hospitals, medical groups, and other healthcare professionals and organizations.

You will work directly with the firm’s partners and have meaningful input into case strategy, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility as you develop within the practice.

The opportunity

You will handle cases from inception through resolution, with responsibilities that include:

• Developing case strategy and managing litigation deadlines.
• Taking and defending depositions.
• Working with experts to evaluate medical and liability issues.
• Researching and drafting substantive and dispositive motions.
• Appearing in court and preparing matters for trial or other resolution.

What you bring

• Approximately 5–10 years of civil litigation experience; medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred.
• Strong research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience with depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
• The judgment and organizational skills to manage cases independently while working effectively with colleagues.
• Clear, responsive communication with clients and the litigation team.
• California Bar admission in good standing.

Compensation and work arrangements

• Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000+, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Benefits and bonus opportunity: Full health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k and profit sharing.
• Location: Sacramento. Flexible work arrangements, including remote work, will be considered.
