McMichael Taylor Gray, LLC is seeking a Litigation Attorney for its Virginia division. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law, in good standing, and reside in Virginia with licensure in additional states preferred.

Experience with foreclosure, bankruptcy, and property law is highly valued. The attorney will manage a litigation caseload through all stages, attend hearings, conduct discovery, and draft pleadings and demand letters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar admission in VA or willingness to obtain.
• Experience in foreclosure, real estate, or mortgage litigation preferred.
• Familiarity with rules of evidence and state/federal civil procedure.

Responsibilities

McMichael Taylor Gray, LLC is seeking an Litigation Attorney for our Virginia division. The applicant must be licensed to practice law and in good standing and residing in Virginia with licensure in additional states preferred. The ideal applicant will be familiar with the rules of evidence and have experience in foreclosure law, bankruptcy, litigation, and a general understanding of all aspects of property law.

Requirements

• Possess and maintain knowledge of state laws and civil procedure. Knowledge of federal court practice is a plus.
• Be responsible for litigation caseload, which includes some or all of the following: probate, title curative, wrongful foreclosure, title disputes, eviction matters, tax issues, etc.
• Attorney will be responsible for a case from referral through disposition, settlement, or verdict, and will attend court hearings and perform discovery.
• Respond to disputes, adhere to investor guidelines, and comply with state and federal requirements, including applicable regulations.
• Prepare and review documents for accuracy, including court filings (pleadings, discovery requests, orders, etc.), correspondence to clients, borrowers or opposing counsel, and figures generated for demand letters, reinstatement, and payoff quotes.
• Resolve title issues and complete any necessary curative actions to allow for clear title.
• Provide legal advice for the Firm’s clients, and research applicable statutes and case law.

Skills/Abilities

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Maintain an active membership in good standing with the State Bar of the states where you practice on behalf of the firm.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law with a focus on finance, real estate, or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters with court room experience preferred.
• Experience in real estate, mortgage and/or commercial litigation strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law a plus.
• Experience in foreclosure, bankruptcy, or evictions a plus; if none, must be willing to learn.
• Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality.
