Job summary

New Edge Associates in Florida seeks an experienced litigation attorney to manage complex commercial matters from inception through resolution, handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial prep with independent initiative.

The ideal candidate will excel in legal writing, strategic client counsel, and coordinating with partners and staff across cases, while maintaining high-quality work on multiple matters.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Florida Bar membership.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial/business litigation experience.
  • Experience handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, witness interviews, and fact investigations.
  • Prepare and argue substantive motions in state and federal courts.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and ADR proceedings.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and trial strategy development.
  • Communicate with clients and provide strategic legal advice throughout the litigation process.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and litigation team members on complex matters.
  • Maintain high-quality legal work product while managing multiple active cases.

Job description

This role will be responsible for managing complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, court appearances, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate with excellent legal writing skills, substantial litigation experience, and the ability to independently manage a demanding caseload.

Job Requirements

  • Manage a portfolio of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Handle business disputes, breach of contract claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, fiduciary duty claims, and other commercial litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, witness interviews, and fact investigations.
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including document review, production, and dispute resolution.
  • Prepare and argue substantive motions in state and federal courts.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and trial strategy development.
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic legal advice throughout the litigation process.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and litigation team members on complex matters.
  • Maintain high-quality legal work product while managing multiple active cases simultaneously.

Job Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Florida Bar.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial/business litigation experience.
  • Experience handling complex commercial disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, and fiduciary duty claims.
  • Experience independently managing litigation matters with minimal supervision.
  • Experience handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience appearing in court and arguing substantive motions.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
