Compensation
Base $130K-$160K + Quarterly Bonuses up to $10K
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join our defense-focused litigation team handling insurance-related matters, personal injury, product liability and catastrophic loss cases. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload from intake through trial, draft pleadings and motions, conduct and defend depositions, coordinate with experts and clients, and pursue efficient, favorable resolutions while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of defense and insurance litigation matters, including personal injury, product liability and catastrophic loss claims.
- Conduct case intake, factual investigation and legal analysis to develop litigation strategy and case plans.
- Draft, file and respond to pleadings, motions, briefs and other court documents; prepare affidavits and legal memoranda.
- Plan, prepare for and take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses and experts; prepare witnesses and coordinate deposition strategy.
- Conduct discovery, analyze evidence and manage electronic discovery processes and document production.
- Work with experts, investigators and consultants to develop and present technical and factual evidence.
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences and trials; argue motions and present oral advocacy as needed.
- Negotiate settlements and coordinate resolution strategies with clients, adjusters and opposing counsel to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, claims professionals and internal teams regarding case status, strategy and cost considerations.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals and support staff; review work product and provide feedback.
- Maintain accurate case files, billing records and comply with court rules, firm policies and professional ethics.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar in the jurisdiction of practice.
- 3+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably defending insurance carriers and handling personal injury, product liability and catastrophic loss matters; trial experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions and preparing effective deposition strategy and witness preparation.
- Proven motion practice skills, including drafting and arguing dispositive, evidentiary and discovery motions.
- Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills; ability to draft clear, persuasive briefs and client communications.
- Experience working with experts (medical, engineering, vocational, etc.) and coordinating expert discovery and testimony.
- Familiarity with e-discovery tools, document management systems and litigation technology.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a track record of achieving favorable settlements where appropriate.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and produce high-quality work independently and as part of a team.
