Job summary

Ascendion is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney in Dallas and Houston with 2+ years of civil litigation experience to join a growing practice. This role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) to balance in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

You will manage a diverse caseload for regional and national carriers, drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, and handling hearings across Texas, while delivering thorough risk assessments and status reports.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active Texas license.
• Active license to practice law in Texas (in good standing).
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience in Insurance Defense, General Liability, Premises Liability, Transportation/Trucking, Personal Injury, or Construction Litigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage defense files independently from inception through trial, mediation, or settlement.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials across Texas jurisdictions.
• Perform thorough legal analysis, risk assessments, and prepare status reports for insurance carriers and clients.

About the Role

You will manage a diverse caseload from initial assignment through resolution, working alongside top-tier defense litigators while handling high-stakes matters for regional and national carriers.

• Manage defense files independently from case inception through trial, mediation, or settlement.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Texas (in good standing with the State Bar of Texas).
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience in Insurance Defense, General Liability, Premises Liability, Transportation/Trucking, Personal Injury, or Construction Litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to comfortably meet a 1,950 billable hour requirement.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy, research, and negotiation skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $150,000 – $220,000. Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
