Job description

Senior Litigation Attorney (5-10+ Years' Experience)

Snell Law

Austin, Texas

Full-Time | Remote, Hybrid, or In-Person

About Snell Law

Snell Law is a boutique litigation firm dedicated exclusively to resolving complex disputes through strategic advocacy, practical judgment, and exceptional trial preparation. We represent businesses and individuals in high-stakes commercial litigation, business disputes, personal injury matters, fiduciary litigation, and other complex civil cases throughout Texas.

Our attorneys enjoy substantial responsibility, direct client contact, and the opportunity to handle sophisticated litigation from beginning to end. We believe great lawyers are given ownership—not micromanagement.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney with 5-10+ years of civil litigation experience to independently manage a docket of complex cases from inception through trial.

This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys practicing law at a high level, values autonomy, and wants to work on sophisticated matters without the bureaucracy of a large firm.

We are looking for a lawyer who wants to try cases, not simply manage them.

This is not a position for someone who requires significant supervision. We are seeking a self-starter who can independently manage complex litigation while collaborating effectively with our team. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel, and consistently produce high-quality work product.

Responsibilities
  • Developing litigation strategy from the outset of the case
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
  • Conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda
  • Managing all phases of written discovery
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Preparing and arguing contested hearings
  • Preparing and responding to dispositive motions
  • Working with clients, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
  • Participating in mediations and settlement negotiations
  • Preparing cases for trial and serving as first or second chair, depending on experience
  • Handling post-trial motions and appeals, when appropriate
  • Maintaining proactive communication with clients and the litigation team
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas (or eligibility for prompt admission)
  • At least five years of meaningful civil litigation experience
  • Experience independently managing litigation matters from filing through resolution
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Strong deposition and courtroom experience
  • Outstanding judgment and organizational skills
  • Exceptional professionalism and client service
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
Preferred Experience
  • Commercial litigation
  • Business litigation
  • Personal injury litigation
  • Arbitration
  • Appellate practice
  • First-chair jury trial experience (a significant plus, but not required)
Compensation

We recognize that experienced attorneys have different professional goals and preferred workloads. Accordingly, compensation is designed to be flexible and competitive.

Base salary will be determined based upon the candidate’s experience together with mutually agreed annual billable-hour and collection expectations. Attorneys will also have the opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses and additional compensation tied to productivity, collections, and business development.

Why Join Snell Law?
  • Flexible remote, hybrid, or in-office work arrangements
  • Competitive compensation with significant upside potential
  • Sophisticated, high-value litigation matters
  • Meaningful courtroom experience
  • Direct client interaction and substantial responsibility
