Job summary

Orion Placement in Minneapolis is seeking an attorney to own and manage litigation matters in a fast-paced civil practice. The role emphasizes taking depositions, drafting and arguing motions, and working closely with experienced litigators.

The ideal candidate holds an active Minnesota bar license with 1+ year of meaningful litigation experience, and is comfortable handling cases from strategy through trial. This is an on-site position with strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active Minnesota bar license required.
• 1+ year of meaningful litigation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to take depositions.
• Experience drafting and arguing motions.
• Experience practicing in state and/or federal court.
• Ability to independently manage a litigation file and deadlines.
• Excellent legal writing, research, communication, and analytical skills.
• Strong professional judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
• More senior attorneys are encouraged to apply.
• Defense, government/public entity, employment, land use, appellate work or clerkship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation files and take ownership of matters from initial strategy through resolution.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Research, draft, and argue substantive motions in Minnesota state and federal courts.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, discovery requests/responses, and other litigation documents.
• Develop case strategy and manage discovery, deadlines, client communications, and case preparation.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, motions, mediations, appellate matters, and trials.
• Work directly with clients and provide clear, practical advice throughout the litigation process.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff while independently driving assigned matters forward.
• Travel periodically to courts, client locations, depositions, and other proceedings throughout Minnesota.
