Job summary

Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford, P.A. is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2 to 8 years of experience to join our St. Petersburg litigation team.

The role focuses on general liability and professional liability matters, offering the chance to handle complex cases in a collaborative, client-focused environment. Key duties include managing all phases of litigation, researching and drafting pleadings and motions, and representing clients in court, mediations, and arbitrations.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• 2 to 8 years of experience in general liability and/or professional liability defense
• Active license/in good standing to practice law
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and motions
• Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers
• Develop litigation strategies and work closely with senior attorneys and partners
