Job summary

Blitt and Gaines, P.C. is a reputable debt-collection law firm seeking an Associate Attorney in Wisconsin.

You will gain extensive courtroom experience with regular appearances and manage a contested litigation queue, while supporting all facets of the litigation process. Essential duties include reviewing claims and pleadings for compliance, drafting and arguing motions, handling discovery, and coordinating with opposing counsel.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required and Wisconsin admission.
• Additional licenses in states where the firm operates are valuable: Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, or Tennessee

Responsibilities

• Appear in court on behalf of the firm a minimum of three days per week.
• Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
• Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
• Occasionally draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
• Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.
• Manage telephonic and written communication with opposing counsel.
• Prepare and respond to discovery or oversee counterclaims involving the firm or its clients.
