Job Description

As a Family Law Associate, you will represent clients in family law cases, ensuring they receive the legal support they need through challenging and emotional times. You will work closely with clients, provide legal counsel, draft legal documents, and represent them in court hearings, trials, mediations, and arbitrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, and more
  • Provide sound legal counsel to clients, helping them navigate the legal system and understand their rights
  • Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and settlement agreements
  • Advocate for clients in court, including at hearings and trials
  • Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions
  • Maintain and manage a caseload, ensuring deadlines are met and clients' needs are prioritized
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Qualifications
  • Active bar license in Texas (or eligibility to become licensed in the state)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and litigation skills
  • Compassionate and client-focused with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with high-conflict cases and with complex division of property
  • Strong understanding of family law statutes, regulations, rules of civil procedure, and court procedures
  • 3+ years of experience, litigation experience preferred
  • particular focus on discovery, drafting, and research.
