Job summary

Cenlar FSB is seeking a Litigation Associate to monitor high risk accounts and manage litigation/title issues across a multi-state mortgage portfolio. You will act as a liaison among clients, management and attorneys, supporting the Foreclosure, Bankruptcy and Post Sale Department.

Responsibilities include developing reports, conducting research, attending client meetings and hearings as required, and ensuring compliance with servicing guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years mortgage default experience or related experience preferred.
  • Paralegal certification and/or legal experience is a plus.

  • Attend monthly Credit Risk Meetings and provide updates.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly client reports.
  • Assess policies and procedures for improvements.
  • Attend client meetings and hearings/mediations as required.
  • Stay informed on FNMA/FHLMC servicing guidelines and timelines.

Job description

The Litigation Associates are responsible for monitoring high risk/litigation/title issue accounts to minimize potential client or Cenlar losses. These positions serve as a liaison between clients, upper management and attorneys, support day to day management of client initiatives that impact the Foreclosure, Bankruptcy and Post Sale Department. Some activities include but are not limited to developing reports, conducting research, attending client meetings and state/county hearings or mediations as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitors accounts identified as “high risk”/litigation/title issues, recommends and helps facilitate appropriate course of action to mitigate potential exposure
  • Attends monthly Credit Risk Meeting and provide updates to committee as needed
  • Prepares and distributes monthly client reports
  • Periodically assesses Policy and Procedures and advises management on improvement opportunities
  • Attends client meetings and provide updates on the portfolio Knowledge and understanding of Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FHLMC) servicing guides and timelines
  • Identifies, analyzes and disseminates trends in litigation
  • Maintains current knowledge and understanding of mortgage servicing with a focus on Foreclosure processing or default mortgage servicing
  • Travels to attend state/county hearings or mediations as needed
  • Participates in off-site due diligence reviews
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years mortgage default experience or related experience preferred
  • Previous project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills; oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of FHA/VA; FNMA/FHLMC servicing guidelines and requirements
  • Familiar with foreclosure and bankruptcy laws in a multi-state portfolio
  • Detail oriented, ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, and possess the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Paralegal certification and/or legal experience Able to work in fast paced environment
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and software applications

It is critical that you have an understanding of the following:

  • Requirements under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), specifically general servicing standards and loss mitigation practices
  • Requirements under the Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA), specifically protections for Service members
