The firm offers about 40 hours per week, a base salary of $110,000 to $150,000 (flexible for top candidates), and a genuine path to partnership.

A J.D. and Michigan bar admission are required, with permission to manage civil matters

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of litigation experience (plaintiff or defense).
• J.D. from an accredited law school and Michigan bar admission.
• Ability to manage civil matters independently and appear in court.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Effective negotiation skills for mediations and settlement discussions.
• Organized, deadline‑driven, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation‑focused caseload with mentorship from senior attorneys.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Appear in court for motion hearings, conferences, and trials.
• Advise clients on legal rights, risks, and strategy, and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Assist with case evaluation and reporting to clients and insurers.

Our client, a Michigan civil litigation firm with more than 50 years of history and one of the largest trial practices in the state, is hiring a Litigation Associate for its Troy office.

This is a true courtroom role. Every attorney at the firm tries cases, and associates take depositions and argue motions early instead of waiting years behind the scenes.
