Job summary

Orion Placement in Troy, Michigan seeks a litigation associate for a trial-focused firm known for hands-on courtroom experience. You will manage caseloads from inception to resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery while building strong research and writing skills.

You will appear in court for hearings and trials with increasing responsibility, take and defend depositions, and collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, and staff on strategy, deadlines, and client

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Michigan Bar license or eligibility for prompt admission.
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Professional judgment, integrity, and a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation-driven caseload from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and case analysis on complex factual and legal issues
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials with increasing responsibility
• Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
• Collaborate closely with partners, associates, paralegals, and legal staff on case strategy
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel
• Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines in a fast-paced environment
