Job summary

Day Pitney LLP in Boston and Hartford seeks an associate with 1-3 years of commercial litigation to join our Litigation team, handling matters across Connecticut and Massachusetts. Expect involvement in pleadings, motions and briefs; depositions; court conferences; hearing appearances; and trial preparation in a collaborative, sophisticated environment.

We offer a hybrid work arrangement with remote work two days per week, supporting flexible collaboration while advancing complex litigation

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of commercial litigation experience with interest in IP litigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and advocacy skills.
• Admission to practice in Connecticut or Massachusetts or ability to become admitted.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions and briefs and participate in court conferences.
• Take and defend depositions; conduct legal research and prepare and respond to discovery.
• Handle day-to-day case management and participate in trial preparation.
• Work on complex commercial litigation matters and gain exposure to IP litigation.

Job description

Day Pitney's Litigation team is seeking an associate with 1-3 years of commercial litigation experience to join our team in our Connecticut or Boston offices.

We are looking for candidates with litigation experience and familiarity with the state and federal courts in Connecticut and/or Massachusetts. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions and briefs; taking and defending depositions; attending court conferences and hearings; arguing motions; conducting legal research; preparing and responding to discovery; handling day-to-day case management; and participating in trial preparation. Intellectual property litigation experience is preferred. Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.

Position Requirements

• 1-3 years of commercial litigation experience with a demonstrated interest in intellectual property litigation
• Excellent written and verbal communication and advocacy skills
• Excellent technical, professional and client service skills
• Team-oriented with an emphasis on collaboration
• Effective and efficient problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work independently and proactively, and to develop creative solutions to meet client and team needs
• Admission to practice law in Connecticut or Massachusetts or ability to become admitted is required (dual admission in CT and MA is a plus)
