Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Lithium Battery Safety Program Specialist to support Navy power and energy RDT&E initiatives. You will lead safety program development, certification planning, engineering analysis, and test planning for lithium battery systems.

The role involves risk assessment, compliance with MIL-STD-882/NAVSEA 5100.12-M, collaboration with program offices, certifying authorities, and technical agents. Some travel to test sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Eight (8)+ years of experience in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline with relevance to lithium battery safety.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline (preferred) and eight (8)+ years of experience or Masters and six (6)+ years of experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain full Secret Clearance. Interim Secret Clearance is required to start (sponsorship available).

Responsibilities

• Develop safety programs for lithium battery systems based on size, scope, and application.
• Support certification plan development, test procedures, and safety evaluations.
• Perform hazard analyses and risk characterization per MIL-STD-882/NAVSEA 5100.12-M.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and data tracking related to safety and certification.
• Attend stakeholder meetings and provide updates on certification status and workload.
• Provide logistics management for test assets and data; support mishap investigations.
