Job Overview

The Literacy tutor works with students in grades K-3 in small groups of five or fewer, who have been identified as needing additional support in early literacy.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Literacy tutor works side by side with the school reading specialists to help students improve early literacy skills, including phonemic awareness and fluency.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience: NA

Licenses and Certifications: Teacher licensure in grades K-8 preferred. License must be an active Virginia license to receive the licensed rate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to relate to children, teachers, and other school staff
• Knowledge of educational evidence-based best practices in education
• Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
